Previous triple j Unearthed Feature Artist, Sarah Connor has walked away as the winner of this years Hilltop Hoods Initiative! The independent hip hop artist and poet from Sydney beat hundreds of applicants to receive a $10,000 career startup grant from APRA and the Hilltop Hoods.
The prize money will go towards the manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of a new EP.
“It’s great timing, I’m happy to take out the Initiative in the same week that I’m the Unearthed feature artist as well,” she told triple j.
“The Hoods actually phoned me to let me know that I was the recipient… it’s really exciting to take it out. It blew my mind when I got told about it a little while ago and it’s been hard keeping it a secret.”
