MusicNSW, the peak body for contemporary music, is pleased to announce it has recently entered into an innovative new arrangement with Alberts, a leading Australian independent music publisher.
Alberts’ history dates back to 1885 and they have fostered artists as diverse as AC/DC, The Easybeats, John Paul Young, and more recently, Gotye, Megan Washington and San Cisco. In addition to Music Publishing, Alberts also offers a suite of creative services, including label distribution, in-house recording studios, licensing, marketing and promotion, song plugging, production and songwriting camps, and are a leading stakeholder in the local music industry.
The initiative involves the development and management of a creative & music related co-working space in Alberts’ premises in Neutral Bay in exchange for in-kind office space, utilities, and access to more extensive industry and artist development opportunities.
The new space endeavours to create much-needed affordable space for the large number of emerging music industry professionals in NSW trading without access to an office, and to connect the industry to a broader network of contacts and opportunities. It will be the first co-share space of its kind in the Australian music industry.
MusicNSW will experience significant benefits from the deal, which eliminates the cost of inner City rent from its overheads, while creating the opportunity to manage a 350m2 space for independent musicians and companies, to further its work within the music sector.
MusicNSW and Alberts are very excited to create this opportunity, and look forward to seeing the space come alive in 2014. Stay tuned for more details to come.
