Widely considered to the one of the country’s most prominent Indigenous Awards, 2013 The National Indigenous Music Awards (NIMAs) are returning to celebrate a decade of recognising excellence in Indigenous music. (It’s also their third year being national!)
The NIMA Awards will be held this year on August 10 at Darwin’s Garden’s Amphitheatre, and features not only the award ceremony, but incredible performances by Indigenous artists across Australia. In past years they have featured acts like Yothu Yindi, Gurrumul, The Tableland Drifters and Warren H. Williams amongst others!
Nominations are now open! They are open to the general public for releases between July 2012 – June 2013.
Categories include: Artist/ Album/ Song/ New Talent of the Year/Film Clip of the Year and Cover Art of the Year.
Categories for NT artists include: School Band, Traditional Music and G.R. Burarrawanga Memorial Award. We also encourage nominations for the NIMA Hall of Fame.
