SxSW has opened up the applications to showcase two weeks early to allow Australian and New Zealand labels, managers and artists to submit recordings, bios, press clips, URL mentions and other materials well in advance. It’s only US$20 (A$26) to apply now online and not have to send a package to Austin as was the case previously.

By the closing date for showcase submissions (October 27) over 8000 bands from around the world (and close to 500 from Australia & New Zealand) will have submitted themselves for only 1200 showcases in 50 venues over five nights. It’s best to apply now and beat the last minute rush to secure a prime slot.
As it has for the past four years, Austrade & the music industry will team to aid the Australian presence with a major stand, Australian Music Guide 15,000 copy magazine, support the Australian Music Collective Barbeque Concert in Austin (plus two shows in Los Angeles prior & two in New York post SxSW) as well as other initiatives to give attendees and bands maximum exposure for success.
