Federal Arts Minister Simon Crean has announced the 15 recipients of the latest round of the Contemporary Music Touring Program funding.
The funding program encouraging acts to play in remote regional areas across the country, by assisting artists through touring costs such as transport, accommodation, marketing, insurance and production.
The 15 recipients are as follows:
They are Darwin based blues/roots/reggae band Reggae Dave & The Iries ($26,574), Brisbane alt-rock outfit The Medics ($15,000), Sydney sound art and environmental music group Soundcircus ($15,000), Melbourne funk rockers Aurora Jane ($15,000), Brisbane alt- rock group Tin Can Radio ($15,000), Sydney’s Gay Paris ($15,000), Brisbane singer songwriter showcase fRETfEST ($14, 979), Brisbane’s Drawn From Bees ($14, 900), Newcastle roots/rockers Benjalu ($14,680), Perth jazz outfit The Jamie Oehlers Quartet ($13, 566), Melbourne rock actDEAD ($10, 272), Gold Coast jazz band Jacam Manricks Trio ($10,000), Rasa Duende made up of Bobby Singh (tabla), Adrian McNeil (sarod) and Damian Wright (guitar), who bring together Indian classical and folk music with flamenco ($9,840), Katoomba,NSW-based blues-rock artist Claude Hay ($8,840) and Melbourne based folk jazz band Anna Smyrk and the Appetites ($8,392).
