The Art Music Awards are returning this year, recognising some of the best talent in contemporary art music, jazz and experimental music this country has to offer. Presented by APRA and The Australian Music Centre, the Art Music Awards will be held on Tuesday April 3 at The Playground Theatre, Sydney Opera House.
This year a new category has been added to the awards-Award for Excellence in Jazz (for works, people or events).
There are 11 national award categories and various state awards based on composition, performance, outstanding contributions by individuals and organisations in Australian music and more.
The live music element of the awards show will be curated by Marshall McGuire, widely considered one of the world’s most talented harpists in contemporary and baroque repertoire.

- Work of the Year: Vocal/Choral
- Work of the Year: Jazz
- Performance of the Year
- Award for Excellence by an Organisation or an Individual
- Award for Excellence in Music Education
- Award for Excellence in a Regional Area
- Award for Excellence in Experimental Music (for works, people or events)
- Award for Excellence in Jazz (for works, people or events)*
An additional category is awarded at the discretion of the Board of Directors of APRA and AMC for Distinguished Services to Australian Music.
