Australia’s Minister for the Arts, the Hon Simon Crean MP has announced today that a third round of the Breakthrough: Emerging Indigenous Contemporary Musicians Recording Initiative is now open for applications.
The third round will enable two aspiring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander musicians or bands to increase their audience exposure further their music careers.
The Australian government is encouraging emerging indigenous artists to apply for up to $25, 000 so they may produce a high quality recording of original tracks, in preparation for broadcast and commercial release. Successful applicants will also have the opportunity to apply for a further $10, 000 for mentoring and promotional support.
The Breakthrough program aims to provide greater exposure for the talent and creativity of Indigenous musicians as well as increase national and international audiences for Australian Indigenous contemporary music.
