Triple j and ABC Radio have announced that they will be launching a second station: Triple j Unearthed. The new station will launch on October 5, and will be dedicated to broadcasting only Australian unsigned and independent artists.
They will be dipping into their pool of over 30, 000 artists and 250, 000 registered users. The station will be to be heard on digital radio and online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth and via triplejunearthed.com.
Independent and unsigned musicians who have never had the opportunity to receive airplay before will get their chance for the first time, whilst music lovers will also be able to discover new Australian talent that they may not be able to hear anywhere else.
Triple J Manager Chris Scaddan stated: “There is so much quality Australian music being made right now and Triple J wants to share as much as we can. Triple J Unearthed will be unique in that it’s 100% Australian music, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
“It’s going to give airplay to many artists who have never had it before and make it even easier for fans to discover new Australian music.”
