Arts Northern Rivers is excited to invite you to a series of information and networking events, presented in conjunction with the Australia Business Arts Foundation (AbaF) and Northern Rivers Community Foundation (NRCF), to be held at venues throughout the region.
The five day event, Arts and Business Working Together – Building our Future, will be held late in March, and will explore alternative avenues available to lever funding for the arts outside of the traditional grants model, with a presentation to be led by AbaF Director, Marie Louise Carroll.
The week will culminate in a morning presentation on AbaF’s Australia Cultural Fund, which provides eligible practising artists and not-for-profit cultural organisations without DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient) status, the opportunity to offer their donors a tax deduction. This final session, to be held at Ballina Community Centre, will also outline the AbaF Awards and nomination process.
Arts Northern Rivers’ CEO, Tony Duke, says he is excited at the opportunity these presentations and discussions might engender.
“One of the key recommendations for the future development of the arts, identified by the Arts Council in their strategy, is philanthropy and sponsorship through relationships with the business sector. We are thrilled that Mary Louise has agreed to travel to the region to provide information on AbaF’s programs and services relevant to this crucial aspect of the region’s future growth,” he comments.
“We are also presenting this event in conjunction with Northern Rivers Community Foundation, which have demonstrated a growing commitment to supporting arts and cultural initiatives across the region.”
“Recent initiatives developed by the NRCF include the ArtsCape Sub Fund, to support and develop emerging artists”.
All of the AbaF tour sessions are free, however places are limited and pre-registration is essential. To book your place email info@artsnorthernrivers.com.au or phone 02 6628 8120.
We invite anyone with an interest in developing and supporting a vibrant and thriving arts community, to join together for these events artists, arts organisations, businesses, Chambers of Commerce, local government staff and elected officials.
