In close competition with two other NSW finalists in the top three of the Music category, kyü have emerged as the winners of the SOYA for 2010.
The Sydney-based duo, Alyx Dennison and Freya Berkhout, have seen an extraordinarily quick rise of their popularity, and with the winner’s prize including up to $10000 worth of cash and Qantas flights, it is not hard to imagine how much further they will take their music and their careers.
With dreams, and plans to use the flights to get over to the world expo, South by Southwest (SXSW), kyü have said that they ‘see this as a vital opportunity to develop [their] career, as well as [their] practice, and [they] feel privileged to have reached this point at such an early stage.’
The girls will also have the opportunity of being mentored under Lee Groves, who has, himself, worked with great names: such as Janet Jackson, Goldfrapp and the Black Eyed Peas.
