NSW Minister for the Arts, Virginia Judge today announced $11.3 million in new grants as part of the State Government’s $42.7 million 2010 Arts Funding Program. This includes three year funding for Indent to remain delivering all ages support and awesomeness.
Ms Judge said the program supported arts organisations and community events across NSW: “This funding enables practitioners and organisations to deliver world-class works and experiences for growing audiences across the State.
“It encourages the development of fresh new talent as well as supporting Australia’s premier centres of artistic and cultural excellence.”
Funding allocation has been rolled out across the state and canvases a spectrum of creative outlets with the Western Sydney region attracting $2.3 million in new grants.
Sydney’s western suburbs attract a further $25,000 in funding for the Parramatta-based Information and Cultural Exchange. The UK and Australian hip-hop artist exchange will participate in a residency program funded by the British Council will stage major hip-hop and urban multi-art form performances in Western Sydney and Sydney CBD.
Aurora New Music will receive $29,000 to stage the 2010 International Society for Contemporary Music World New Music Days. Aurora New Music will partner with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, ABC Classic FM and the Australian Music Centre to present 22 concerts over 10-days.
The NSW Government decision to inject this level of funding recognises the positive impact the arts have within NSW local communities.Next year Indent will turn 10, and to celebrat ten years of successful funding will be using that money to put on
