Australian Music Office announces gig opportunities around the globe - MusicNSW

The Australian Music Office – through the Australian Trade Commission – has unearthed a number of excellent opportunities for artists keen to develop their presence and profile in the USA, UK and Europe.

U.S. Opportunity
The first opportunity is a pretty hip festival in San Francisco this coming February
26 – March 2, 2008. The Noise Pop Festival is the San Francisco Bay Area’s largest
independent music festival and takes place over one week, in fifteen clubs of
varying sizes from 100 to 1200 and attracts an audience of over 15,000 each year.
Noise Pop traditionally selects indie-rock, and indie pop style bands…think
Architecture In Helsinki or The Grates….. Noise Pop has supported new music since
1993, spotlighting local talent and bringing nationally and internationally known
independent artists to San Francisco stages.

Many of the important artists of our time including White Stripes, Death Cab for
Cutie, the Flaming Lips, The Shins, Bright Eyes, Wolfmother and Jeff Tweedy of Wilco
have graced Noise Pop’s stages.

The Noise Pop Festival now also includes gallery events and a film festival,
exploring the intimate connection between visual art, film and music.
Noise Pop is interested to bring more international artists into the festival. The
routing could be excellent if you are going to SXSW as Noise Pop is two weeks
before.

For more information on the festival, visit www.noisepop.com.
If you are interested in submitting, please email Tony George at
tony.george@austrade.gov.au.
Deadline would be December 15, 2007.

UK Opportunity
Are you a rock/Indie band or artist and are already planning to be in the UK between
January 2008 ’till May 2008 and are looking for some extra gigs?
If you already have a UK promoter working on your behalf in the UK, if so then you
might qualify to participate . One of the UK’s leaders on the high street for LIVE
entertainment with great venues set up for LIVE MUSIC is looking for bands to
perform at their top 12 venues across the UK; including London, Manchester &
Birmingham.

Venue capacity ranges from 400 to 1500 and they attract a healthy British clientele
as well as a strong Aussie following at their London venues.
Past acts have included INXS, Rolf Harris, Vernon Kaye, Alan Fletcher, Chesney
Hawkes & Rachel Stevens

German Opportunity
The city of Stuttgart in Southern Germany is not only home to the current German
soccer champion, Mercedes, Porsche, and Bosch, but also to one of our country’s
largest tourism trade shows (CMT). Australia happens to be partner country next
year.

The city of Stuttgart is keen on organising various sorts of cultural events around
the week long show and would be interested in having a few Aussie acts performing.
If you are touring Germany/Europe in mid to late January , this might be an extra
gig for you.

The exact dates of the trade show are January 12-20, 2008. Fees and other terms are
to be discussed but this would be paid concerts.
