Big news as the NSW Government passes important legislative reforms that support the recovery of our live music industry.
The relevant changes passed by NSW Parliament are as follows:
- the ‘high-risk’ classification which attached to certain music festivals is abolished;
- eligible venues are now able to apply for an additional hour of trading if they present live music; and
- musicians are now specifically identified as being permitted to use loading zones when loading gear in and out of venues.
Various music industry organisations including MusicNSW, the Australian Festival Association, Live Performance Australia, APRA AMCOS, and the Live Music Office, have been involved in a sustained advocacy effort over the past few years pushing hard for change around live music, and we applaud the NSW Government, Opposition and Cross-benchers for their bipartisan support of these important reforms.

More to come - we’ll keep you posted.
