JESS BESTON (Tiny Monsters): Jess Beston is Founder/Director of boutique music business “Tiny Monster”, specialising in Artist Management and Artist Development/Strategy/Radio for independent emerging artists within whom she sees big potential. She currently manages Holy Holy & new act Alex L’Estrange, and assists Bill Cullen with Neil Finn. Previously she worked at EMI for 6 years in Licensing/PR, and Universal as A&R Manager for 4 years signing Children Collide, Gyroscope, and working with The Naked & Famous & Violent Soho for their first LPs.
VANESSA PICKEN (Comes with Fries): Vanessa Picken, the Founder and Director of Comes With Fries, is Van by name and is a vanguard by nature. Her modular digital agency provides professional services and expertise to those in the music, technology, fashion, and digital industries. From her tenures at some of the world’s leading companies (including EMI Music, Nokia and T-Mobile) Van has developed a wealth of knowledge in marketing strategy, brand development, digital advertising and content management. Comes With Fries is focused on providing creative, dynamic and engaging digital solutions.
STEPHEN GOODHEW (FBi RADIO): Having started in radio on an internship in 2009, Stephen Goodhew currently serves as Music Director at one of Australia’s most respected outlets for local music – FBi Radio. As MD, Stephen wears a few different hats, overseeing the musical output across all of FBi’s online, digital and terrestrial platforms. He also programs and coordinates events, ranging from small-scale panels to full-scale festivals and hosts a weekly radio program to boot. With a proven ear for identifying talent at it’s earliest stages, Stephen is a passionate supporter of local music and a true believer in the power of independent media.
TIM DERRICOURT (Dappled Cities/Swimwear): Tim Derricourt is the singer and songwriter for Sydney band Dappled Cities, and moonlights as Swimwear, his DIY dance side project. Dappled Cities are one of Australia’s most beloved musical groups, having graced airwaves and stages for over ten years with their own brand of ambitious indie rock. Continually reinventing their sound and approach since their teenage years, the five-piece have produced four albums (A Smile, Granddance, Zounds, Lake Air) of sparkling left-of-centre music, amassing fans and accolades along the way.
HOST: GLENN DICKIE (Sounds Australia): Glenn Dickie is currently the Export Music Producer for SOUNDS AUSTRALIA where he works on showcasing and networking events across a variety of international music conferences such as Folk Alliance International (Kansas City, USA), South by Southwest (Austin, USA), Jazzahead (Bremen, Germany), Classical:NEXT (Rotterdam, The Netherlands), Canadian Music Week (Toronto, Canada), Reeperbahn Festival (Hamburg, Germany) and The Great Escape (Brighton, UK). Glenn spent nearly 13 years at EMI Music Australia working in A&R, Promotions and Marketing with a diverse set of artists such as JET, Katy Perry, Oh Mercy, Lily Allen, MiamiHorror, Ricki-Lee, You Am I and Sigur Ros. He spent 12 years on air at Melbourne Community Radio station 3 Triple R and was also one of the co-founders of THE AUSSIE BBQ in the early 2000s, which has gone on to become the biggest showcase of Australian music outside of Australia, now wrapped into SOUNDS AUSTRALIA’s suite of events internationally.

Gabrielle Ryan (Martketing Manager at Inertia): Gabrielle is Marketing Manager at indie label Inertia Music, working on campaigns for Sia, Bon Iver, Danny Brown, The Delta Riggs, Beach House, Father John Misty and many more. Before Inertia, Gabrielle was Label & Publicity Manager at Spunk Records and National Publicist at Caroline Australia, and had her first break in PR & Artist Management at Bossy Music.
Andrew Brentnall (Content Manager at EMI Music Australia): Andrew makes cool stuff to stop you scrolling in your busy newsfeed and pay attention. Currently at Universal Music he’s worked with Troye Sivan, The Avalanches, Empire Of The Sun, Halsey and Nicole Millar.Before that he used to work on all of those TV shows you pretend not to watch like The Bachelor, MasterChef and Gogglebox. Don’t worry, he secretly loves them too!
James Adams (Freelance Music Photographer): James is a 30 year old photographer that specialises in capturing the unique world that is the musicians lifestyle through digital and film photography. In recent times James’ work has connected him with the likes of The Delta Riggs, DMA’s, Eagles of Death Metal, The Preatures, Violent Soho, Angus and Julia Stone, Bad//Dreems, Illy, Jaguar Ma, You Am I, Dope Lemon, DZ Deathrays and more.
Cecil Coleman (Universal): Cecil is the Senior Creative for the Licensing team at Universal Music Publishing. Working with a songwriting catalogue boasting writers from New Order, Elton John and The Cure to Justin Bieber, Gang of Youths, Jonti and Jamie xx, Cecil seeks out sync opportunities for all UMP writers as well as providing creative services & assistance to music supervisors, advertising agencies, film, TV, gaming and online producers. This essentially means getting trapped in a listening and research vortex of the best kind on a daily basis!
Katie Rynne (Booking Agent at Select Music): Katie Rynne is a booking agent at Select Music, a Sydney based agency. She represents a roster that includes The Preatures, Japanese Wallpaper, Patrick James, Montaigne, and Tora, as well as having worked day-to-day logistics on acts such as Boy & Bear, Passenger, RUFUS, Seth Sentry, San Cisco and Josh Pyke amongst many others. She also runs all social media aspects of the company, as well as their international touring sister company Select Touring. In her time in the music industry, she has also worked in publicity and management / tour managing for acts such as Lior and Passenger (UK).
Larry Heath (AU Review): Larry Heath is the founding editor and publisher of the music, arts, travel and lifestyle publication The AU Review, which first launched in 2008. Running parent company Heath Media, he also founded and publishes the film and gaming site The Iris, publishes the Asian music and culture site Hello Asia! and oversees their digital radio station AU Radio. He is the Director of the National Live Music Awards (NLMAs) and currently books and promotes the Courtyard Sessions at the Seymour Centre in Sydney.
Dan Lia (Tour manager / sound engineer): Dan has over 27 years in the music industry and previously owned and operated one of Sydney’s leading Rehearsal and Recording Studio for over 15 years. Dan is a specialist in Front Of House Sound, Studio Engineering, Producing, Venue Audio Consultancy, Tour Management and Production Management. With a great attitude and A smile, Dan believes that nothing in the music industry needs to be hard and prides himself and making every experience a pleasurable one. Inner Volume was borne out of Dan’s belief that all of these skills could be offered as a package or as an all-in-one service.
Adam Norris (Music Journalist): Across more than 450 interviews, Sydney gadabout Adam Norris has harangued some of the most interesting and improbable names in art, science, religion and politics. From Oscar winners to State Premiers, from Billy Corgan to Bret Easton Ellis, all the way to the indomitable David Hasselhoff, Adam has collected stories from every walk of life. He is the researcher and voice of Macquarie University’s Pioneering Minds podcast, the MC for Football NSW, has performed for Radio National, and hosts the monthly live reading night, Little Fictions. In 2014 Pan Macmillan published his ebook, One Black Stone, a hilarious story about the end of the world. Right now, he is wearing a hat.
Chad Davis (Musicland): CHAD DAVIS (Director at Musicland): Musicland is a full service entertainment and marketing consultancy based in Sydney that has clients all over Australia. Between booking for small bars, festivals, corporate special events and creating marketing strategies for clients, he and the team constantly traverse the line between logistics and creativity. Over 25 years in the game has given Chad valuable insights on how to get a start, build a network and gain momentum in the music and entertainment industry. He loves sharing his knowledge, network and experience with people that want to break into the industry and can’t wait to be asked a million questions!
Emily Collins (MusicNSW): Emily Collins is the Executive Officer of MusicNSW, the peak body for contemporary music in NSW. Emily has worked in the music industry in a variety of capacities since first moving to Sydney in 2002, including working on music and art festivals, working with Sydney’s FBi Radio, producing and marketing music events and playing in bands.
