The Music Industry Review into Sexual Harm, Sexual Harassment and Systemic Discrimination report, Raising Their Voices, has been handed down.
Thank you to the participants who came forward to take part in the independent Review - contributing both their stories, and their ideas for change. We acknowledge the courage that victim survivors have shown throughout this process, and thank them for their belief in the music industry’s capacity to change and be better.
MusicNSW accepts and acknowledges the distressing findings contained in this report, and as the peak body for music in NSW, we are sorry.
Everyone has the right to work in an environment free from bullying, sexual harassment, sexual assault and discrimination. What this report makes evident is that this is not the experience of many in our industry. We hear this loud and clear, and commit ourselves to actively redressing this through our advocacy, our programs and our leadership in the NSW and national music community.
We have signed the industry’s Joint Statement of Acknowledgement and commit to wholeheartedly supporting the implementation of the recommendations and supporting our industry to work together. We can, and must do better.
