A new initiative has started called One of One, which is shining the spotlight on women in the Australian music industry.
The initiative was founded by Sarah Hamilton and Vader Fame (Ditto Music) and Joanna Cameron (AIR), who believe women in the industry deserve recognition for their hard work and contribution to the Australian music scene.
‘We wanted to create something positive and highlight what some women are doing, and selfishly, we wanted to find out more about how they operate, their advice and experiences, and how they got to where they are. We hope that both men and women can get something from the site – whether that’s to be inspired to follow what they want to do in music, find insight into how these people and companies operate, or just an interesting read on the tram,” says Sarah Hamilton.
‘One of my main motivations for the site was to create a resource for those who are in the early stages of their career, whether they be studying the business or interning at a music company. I wanted a platform to be able to say – “hey, there’s this woman doing a kick-ass job as a tour manager, let us tell you about her!”, says Joanna Cameron.
One of One features interviews with women from all backgrounds, locations and fields within the industry, including an interview with our very own Executive Officer Kirsty Brown!
