THE JOSH PYKE PARTNERSHIP RETURNS! - MusicNSW

Josh Pyke, in conjunction with APRA, is bringing back the Josh Pyke Partnership this year! One lucky Australian musician will walk away with a $7500 grant to kick-start their music career!

The winning artist will also receive mentorship from Josh Pyke himself and a meeting with Gregg Donovan (Wonderlick Entertainment) and Stephen Wade (Select Music). They will then go on to establish and execute a business plan, which will support the progression of their music career.

“I’m really proud to bring the JP partnership back again, and hope to make it an annual grant,” Josh Pyke said.

“I’ve seen the industry change so much in the last 12-years, and if we all want it to remain a healthy and vibrant scene, then giving young artists a bit of a leg up is key.

“I received two grants early on in my career and they helped me a great deal. I’m very excited to sit down and see what the next batch of Australian artists have been working on”.

GOVS (Josiah Birrell) took out the prize last year and since the competition has released two singles, been a featured triple j Unearthed artist and was the 16th most listened to Unearthed artist in 2014.

“This partnership is about helping the young musician,” Josiah said.

“Every creative has a ‘big idea’ or some sort of grand scheme for their art and the first thing I realised in meeting Josh and his team was that they just wanted to hear about those ideas and help you see them come to life.

“For me, GOVS is my baby, so winning was a huge incentive to put the pieces together and raise the baby right.”

Applicants can not be signed to a recording or publishing company and must submit a business plan outlining how they would use the $7500 grant.
