In exciting news,  this year Australia has been invited to compete the iconic Eurovision Song Contest, by gaining a wildcard entry into the Grand Final stage of the competition.

SBS will choose which Australian artists will compete on the countries behalf, and will need to submit their entry by March 16.

The Eurovision website has stated that Australia was been invited to Eurovision because of the long-time support Australian’s have shown to the event. TV network SBS have been broadcasting the competitions for over 30 years.

“We are very excited to have secured this historic opportunity for Australia to be represented on the world’s biggest stage at the 60th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest and are honoured that the European Broadcasting Union has supported us to achieve this ambition,” said Michael Ebeid, SBS’ Managing Director.
