Ten aspiring musicians have made it through to the Grand Final of the Telstra Road to Discovery talent development program!
The Telstra Road to Discovery program kicked off in July, and uncovers a diverse range of songwriting talent from across the country. This year’s competition has shifted to embracing 100% original music with a stronger focus on mentorship, song writing and music education for independent and unsigned songwriters. The program this year will put emerging artists in touch with leading industry figures, as well as providing a platform for their music to be heard by a wider audience, and providing them with solid media exposure. The competition tours eight showcase heats staged across the country, in which six local (pre-screened) applicants are selected to perform.
Following on from the Semi Final heat held at Kindred Studios in Melbourne last Friday, the final ten finalists were selected from a eighteen hopefuls. These selected ten will now compete in the Grand Final, which is set to be held at the Forum Theatre on 3rd December in Melbourne.
Two winners will be rewarded with a $15,000 music development fund and a trip to the USA to perform at the Americana Music Festival, as well as other ongoing opportunities for career development.
