APRA AMCOS have launched a new license, The Online Showreels License, to cater to agencies wanting to use licensed music for promotional purposes.
The new license came about when APRA AMCOS noted the growing interest from production companies wishing to showcase their work online without needing to remove the licensed original music used in showcases.
Online and Mobile Licensing Manager at APRA AMCOS, Frank Rodi, states: ” There’s been a licensing gap online, with agencies showcasing examples of their work. In response we have developed a simple license scheme for music use in showreels, which has also incorporated feedback from the industry itself.”
OSL fees start at $220 and go up to $550 including GST every financial year. This small price is to pay to guarantee the use of original works in comparison to the infringements that would follow unlicensed use. APRA AMCOS is providing an introductory offer where new licenses can receive an extension of the initial licensing period from the date its paid, to 30 June 2015.
