Sessions & Panels for FEEDBACK:
CRAFTING YOUR TUNES
w/ singer-songwriter Josh Pyke & producer Wayne Connolly
Moderated by Lucia Doll (APRA)
Playing in his first band at the age of 12, writing songs from the age of 14 – Josh Pyke has established himself as a prolific Australian singer-songwriter. This songwriting session will provide you with insight into writing catchy melodies, collaborating with producers and other songwriters, as well as tips on capturing your creative output and crafting your music. Josh will share his experiences along with his producer/engineer Wayne Connolly, who has also worked with the likes of Grinspoon, The Living End and Hungry Kids Of Hungary.
THE YOUNG ONES
Moderated by Jake Stone (Bluejuice)
Starting out as a young artist can be a fun and exciting time for any band or musician. But there are many roadblocks and obstacles faced by aspiring underage musicians and industry practitioners when trying to flourish in the music scene. In The Road to Success for a Young Musician you’ll hear two successful Australian artists and their managers share stories about how they forged successful music careers. Winston McCall from Parkway Drive with his manager Graham Nixon, and Thelma Plum with her manager Leanne de Souza. Both of these artists started out as young musicians and have since propelled themselves to stardom. Hear about their personal experiences and gain some valuable tips and insights on how to overcome obstacles and steer your career along the correct paths.
MUSIC INDUSTRY SPEED DATING
Moderated by Dom O’Connor (FBi Radio)
Don’t be nervous! This industry speed-dating session doesn’t involve revealing your horoscope or favourite colour. Instead, it’s a chance to ask leading music industry service providers some questions about who they are, what they do, and how you can access their services. We’ll have APRA talking about royalties, FBi Radio talking about how to get played on the radio, publicity tips and tricks from Create/Control, booking advice from Select and getting your head around publishing from Alberts. Any questions? Fire away!
