The APRA/AMCOS Music Awards 2014 will be held in Brisbane for the first time on June 23rd, and they will be announcing the short list contenders for the APRA Song of the Year in mid-April.
In addition, from 2015, the APRA Awards will be taking place in March, changing up from it’s usual mid-winter timeslot. This shift will work better with Australian artists who tour overseas during the summer festival season.
Ian Walker, Minister for Science, Information Technology, Innovation and the Arts, says of the move north: “The APRA Music Awards will be a great addition to Queensland’s contemporary music scene. The Queensland Government supports Queensland as a hub for contemporary music, musicians and new music discovery through events, such as BIGSOUND.”
