Peak body for contemporary music in Western Australia – West Australian Music (WAM), has announced Mike Harris will be replacing Wendy Were as the not-for-profit’s CEO towards the end of February.
MusicNSW would like to congratulate and warmly welcome Mike to the AMIN family!
Locally, Mike has worked closely on developing arts and cultural programs for local councils and at the Matt Dunn Cultural Centre as General Manager.
In addition, Mike brings with him a wealth of experience from outside WA, having spent time in senior positions at Melbourne International Arts Festival, Sydney’s Glen Street Theatre and The Arts Centre in Melbourne.
In a post on the WAM website, Mike says “”I am thrilled at the opportunity to work with such a pivotal and well respected organisation as WAM, and look forward to contributing to the ongoing championing and well-being of WA’s contemporary music industry,” Mike said. “Having lived and worked in the eastern states for 15 years, and largely in the performing arts sector, it is exciting to be returning home to work in the area of my first love, music!”
Outgoing WAM CEO Wendy Were has accepted a role as Executive Director, Arts Development at Australia Council for the Arts.
