The Hilltop Hoods Initiative is on again for 2014 – giving one emerging Australian hip hop/soul artist the chance at winning $10,000 towards funding costs associated with the manufacture, release and promotion of a debut album – as well as legal advice courtesy of David Vodicka and Media Arts Lawyers for general or specific career advice. The only catch is, you must not have already released an album professionally.
There are some great people involved in the judging, including Hau from Koolism and triple j’s The Hip Hop Show, Nish – a Graffiti Artist, Indigenous Community Worker and Promoter and Ran-Dee – who manages Def Wish Cast, and is also a Booking
Agent and Promoter.
Applications are open now, and will close on 25th February 2014, so get cracking, because there are a few things you have to do:
- MP3 files of your demo (maximum three tracks).
- A completed application form including bio, proposed budget and timeline.
- A press shot and a group/artist logo (if applicable).
**All files must be zipped for submission and placed in a dropbox. Send the link to your dropbox to hth@apra.com.au.
