Band competition in Hunter region - MusicNSW

Aspiring young musicians have just two weeks to launch their music careers by entering one of the biggest band comps in the Hunter region!

The Youth Rockin’ the Black Dog (YRBD) competition is open to those aged between 12 and 24 and the first place prize is a professionally produced and mastered three-track EP, with 500 pressed CDs. Entries close on Friday 2nd August – just over two weeks away!

YRBD coordinator Kim McNaughton said on the competition: “As well as a platform for emerging artists, YRBD encourages young people to think and talk about mental health issues with friends, family and networks. It also promotes local and national support services.”

There will be live evening-heats during September, followed by a grand final at Lizotte’s, Newcastle, in October 2013 (Mental Health Month).

YRBD is managed by Newcastle-based Hunter Institute of Mental Health in a partnership with headspace Newcastle and Hunter headspace.
