Australia Council of the Arts has funded 20 regional and community festivals totalling $382,000 through the Australia Council’s Festivals Australia program.
Funded festivals include:
Red Deer Music and Arts in Queensland ($15,000)
Central Highlands Multicultural Festival in Emerald ($13,000) for a Live at the Showground project which includes live mixing, recording and videography workshops
The inaugural Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music curated by electronic music pioneer David Chisholm ($12,000)
South Australia’s Fleurieu Folk Festival ($11,800) to engage a songwriter to work with developing young musicians to create a song of celebration of the event.
Tiwi Islands Shire Council (NT) received $45,853 for the “Jimblah” project which includes hip hop artist MC, Jimblah & Co for songwriting, recording workshops as part of the Milimika Tiwi Islands Festival at Wurrumiyanga, Bathurst Island.
Skinnyfish Music (NT) received $23,440 for a circus skills-building residency for young people so they can perform at the Barunga and Yugul Mangi festivals.
