FEEDBACK : A MUSIC CONFERENCE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE – GIVEAWAY! - MusicNSW

We have 3 x double passes to giveaway to MusicNSW community members for FEEDBACK! Scroll down to find out how to enter!

If you are aspiring for a successful career in the music business, nothing inspires you more than hearing advice directly from the source, from those in the know. This is why our project Indent, the peak network for all-ages entertainment in NSW, is presenting a music conference for young people called FEEDBACK – a full day of music industry guest speakers, panels, take-home resources, live music and networking, especially for 12-25 year olds.

Held in collaboration with Vivid Ideas, FEEDBACK’s interactive panels and keynote speakers will be offering helpful advice and entertaining anecdotes to musicians, young aspiring industry professionals and music fanatics alike. If you are looking to forge a career in any of the broader aspects of the music industry, FEEDBACK will bring you real-life examples on how to succeed from a young age. At FEEDBACK you will be able to snag vital resources, network with music industry pros, and learn a stack about tricks of the trade.

FEEDBACK will feature an inspiring lineup of music industry professionals. Our MC for the day will be triple j’s Home and Hosed host Dom Alessio, and our two keynotes will be presented by singer/songwriter, media personality and actor Brendan Maclean and acclaimed hip hop MC Urthboy (Elefant Traks).

Maclean says, “MusicNSW has always been a vital resource in my career, so personally it’s a pleasure to return the favour. I’m looking forward to sharing the pricklier moments in my career in Australian music.”

Claire Collins (Association of Artist Managers), Nicole Cheek (triple j Unearthed), Greg Morrow (APRA) and Scott Fitzsimons (Street Press Australia) will be joining us for ‘Industry Speed Dating’ – a chance to ask music industry service providers some questions about who they are, what they do, and how you can access their services.

Sweetie Zamora (Remote Control Records, FBi Radio) and Samantha Clode (triple j magazine / MusicNSW) will both be joining our Don’t Stop Believin’ panel, which involves a discussion between five industry reps who will be sharing with us their past trials and tribulations on their road to success in the music business. They will share their personal experiences with a few (no doubt hilarious) anecdotes along the way – an inspiring session for anyone wanting to hear the realities of pursuing a career in the music industry, from those in the know.

Other industry speakers on the day will include Jay Whalley (Frenzal Rhomb) Nick Yates (We Are Unified), Graham Nixon (Resist Records), Bec Reato (Deathproof PR), Joey McGahey (Australian Hysteria Magazine), Stu Harvey (triple j’s Short Fast Loud / Shock Records), Spod (musician / video director), Nic Warnock (RIP Society), Adam Lewis (GoodGod Small Club / Radiant on FBi), Emily York (Penny Drop), Nicci Reid (Wing & Gill), Greg Carey (Umbrella Music), Jonno Seidler (The Vine / One A Day) and DJ Joyride.

I will not be missing Urthboy’s keynote. His ethics and thoughts on independent music resonate with me personally, they are ideas very much rooted in the D.I.Y philosophies of punk rock. I really admire his passion and am really keen to hear what he has to offer in his keynote address.” – Stu Harvey (triple J’s Short Fast Loud)

Tickets are just $20 + BF for the full day. For more info & tickets head to indent.net.au or vividsydney.com/ideas.
