Federal Arts Minister Simon Crean stated during his keynote speech at the Music Connects India Conference in Mumbai earlier this week that the National Cultural Policy is currently being “finalised”.
Once enacted, this policy will streamline the national arts, bringing arts and creative industries into the mainstream in Australian society. The Minister also stated that the Australian Government “know[s] creative societies are productive and resilient societies.”
Though the National Cultural Policy had been slated for release before the end of 2012, the policy will be the first of its kind in the past twenty years and is promised to produce significant, positive change for the arts in Australia.’
