APRA|AMCOS Distributes 13.9% More to Members in 2011/2012 - MusicNSW

Music copyright organisation APRA|AMCOS distributed 13.9% more in royalties to its members in the 2011/2012 financial year.

This news comes despite claims by APRA that it is in “difficult economic times.” The larger distribution is attributed to record revenue growth in the recording rights arm of the organisation, AMCOS.

APRA|AMCOS collects its revenue from royalties for public performances, broadcasts and online communications. The organisation showed a revenue growth of 7.2% overall to $257.4 million. APRA and AMCOS individually grew by 1.5% to $185.7 million and by 25% to $71.7 million respectively.

Over 244,623 writers and publishers received an APRA distribution payment this past financial year, for nearly a quarter of a million musical works. Additionally, international revenue for Australasian music creators rose by 9.1% to a record $22.1 million.
