City of Sydney, Youth Services in partnership with APRA/AMCOS and our all ages project Indent will host two music industry workshops for young people aged between 16-24 years in the September/October school holidays.
Workshop one will be held at Millers Point Youth Centre, 17 Argyle Place, Millers Point on the first Tuesday of the school holidays, Tuesday 25 September.The theme of the first workshop is performance development and will provide young people with presentations from professionals in the music industry on topics like how to improve their stage presence, enhance their repertoire, how to market their music and build an audience. Speakers at the workshop will consist of local recording artists and producers and staff from Indent.
Workshop two, held on the second Tuesday of the school holidays, Tuesday 2 October, will is focus on the business side of the music industry and will be held at the head office of APRA/AMCOS, 16 Mountain Street, Ultimo. Speakers from TAFE NSW and APRA AMCOS will introduce young people to such topics as seeing their music as a business opportunity and marketing their music.
Attendance at the music workshops is free and all participants will receive music resources, the opportunity to speak to experienced professionals in the music industry. Lunch will also be provided.
