The third Saturday of April is fast approaching, which means it’s time to get excited for another round of Record Store Day releases and events! The idea originated back in 2007 thanks to independent record label owner Chris Brown, and has since become an internationally recognised day celebration of…well, music!
Fans, artists and hundreds of independently owned record stores across the globe will be getting into the spirit on Saturday April 21, with releases expected from big international acts. But be sure to get involved in the celebrations on the home front by heading to many events held in honour of the day right around the state. At 11am, Megan Washington will be in-store signing CD’s at HUM in Newtown. Then you can take a stroll down the street and check out an unplugged set from Deep Sea Arcade from 3pm at Repressed Records. Or if it’s something more tangible you’re after, why not head down to Newcastle’s Odditorium, where you can sift through their mini record fair (with listening booths!) then step inside for a performance by Kira Puru and the Bruise.
There is plenty to see and do on Record Store Day! To find out what events are happening in your area head here.
