Youth Week is inviting the public to nominate young people, young collectives, youth workers and/or police offers who have made a significant contribution to our local City of Sydney community in 2011. The nominations will be considered for the Betty Makin Youth Awards which will be run as part of the National Youth Week in 2012.
The awards will recognize the contributions of young people aged 12-24, youth workers and police within the City of Sydney. The ceremony will be held between 6-9pm on Tuesday April 17, 2012 at Redfern Town Hall.
Six scholarships will be distributed to the most outstanding nominees plus one individual from each category will receive a $500 scholarship. The money each recipient is awarded is to be used towards continuing or enhancing the projects they engage in which benefit the broader community.
The four categories are as follows:
- Contribution to the community
- Environmental sustainability initiative
- Creativity, Arts and Culture
- Young Entrepreneur
Awards will also be presented to a youth worker and police officer to recognize their valuable contribution to young people and their family in the City of Sydney.
