A new position has become available at AMRAP! The Australian Music Radio Airplay Project (Amrap) is a community radio initiative that works with musicians and community broadcasters to increase radio airplay opportunities for contemporary Australian music.

AMRAP offers two services to distribute Australian music to community radio stations for potential airplay. Our monthly CD mail out service has been running since 2001, and complements our new digital distribution service called AirIt.

Duties

Promote Amrap to community radio stations and assist program makers and station music coordinators to access music through our services.

Liaise with Amrap staff, stations, and the music industry to identify music for distribution.

Distribute music to these radio users through Amrap’s AirIt: community radio’s Australian music catalogue, and through Amrap’s monthly CD Mailout service.

Responsibilities

1. Market Amrap services to relevant stakeholders including stations and music industry.

2. Coordinate Monthly CD Mailout service including assessing applications, taking bookings and distribution of CDs to appropriate stations.

3. Distribute CD orders lodged by radio users through Amrap’s AirIt service.

4. Create and distribute Amrap promotional materials for stations including posters, e-newsletters, articles and social media.

5. Maintain regular correspondence with stakeholders to encourage use of Amrap services.

1. Excellent written, verbal and communications kills.

2. Excellent computing and administration skills.

3. Success in establishing rapport and maintaining productive relationships with external organisations and individual stakeholders.

4. Ability to identify music genres and objectively assess the irrelevance to radio formats.

5. An interest in Australian music, and a desire to generate opportunities for Australian musicians.

Desirable attributes

6. Graduate degree in communications, media and/or marketing.

7. Desktop publishing skills (ideally Adobe Creative Suite–Photoshop & In Design).

8. An understanding of the music and broadcast industries.

Position Description

Title: Music Distribution Coordinator

Employer: Community Broadcasting Association of Australia

Salary Range: $45,000-$47,000 PA + 9% Superannuation

Terms of Employment: Full-time at 37.5hrs p/week 12-month contract with 3 month probationary period

Reports To: Amrap Manager

Work Location: Amrap Office – Sydney, Australia
