The final list of Australian South By Southwest invitees has been announced, with 52 performing artists given the honour.
The SXSW conference happens Tuesday 13 to Sunday 18 March, 2012 and is widely considered to be one of the biggest showcase/conferences in the music industry, with over 250 Australian artists submitted to be part of the showcase in Austin, Texas. 52 of those have been invited and they now will decide whether they will attend or not.
MusicNSW’s all ages project Indent organised a regional all-ages tour this year with headliners Tonight Alive who have now been invited to join the conference! Locals Lanie Lane, Cameras, Jonti, sleepmakeswaves and WIM are also amongst the lucky invitees!
Awarded invitations, Gotye, The Grates, The Chevelles, King Cannons and CW Stoneking have all declined for varying reasons, and there may be more from the list below.
Stuart Coupe’s proposed Australian panel at the SXSW Conference has been accepted.
On top of the musical performances, 70 Australian films are being considered to be part of the festival.
