Questions answered by James Domeyko.
What was the first band you saw live?
An orchestra playing Bach.
What did learn from that concert?
The hypnotic power of contrapuntal melodies and textures.
Got any pre-gig rituals?
Ohm. Someone starts an ohm on a note, put your hands on each others shoulders and pay attention to the sound and the vibration and gradually get in tune together. It definitely puts you in sync before a gig. My personal rituals are private.
What do you think the most important issue affecting artists in NSW is today?
I don’t know about NSW on a state level so I can only answer with respect to Sydney which at the moment is facing a shortage of adequate venues.
If you weren’t a musician what do you reckon you’d be doing?
Directing films.
