Whichway is proud to announce that the Whichway Regional Workshop 2011 will be held in Nowra. The Whichway Regional Workshop Program is a 3-day workshop series for regional Indigenous artists looking to gain valuable skills and knowledge of the music industry. Past regional workshops have taken place in Dubbo and Tamworth.
Whichway is a project of MusicNSW and is the key music development program for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music industry in NSW. The program was established to bridge the gap between the Indigenous music industry and the wider music industry in Australia, and to promote and develop the future of contemporary Indigenous artists locally, nationally and overseas.
The workshop will be held in Nowra from the 26th to 28th of July, taking place at the Nowra Youth Service.
Participants will network and participate in workshops, and panels with industry professionals, established artists and performers who will share first hand experiences and knowledge of the contemporary music industry. Indigenous musicians at all levels are encouraged to apply.
Day 1 will focus on industry skills providing an overview of how an emerging artist can approach the industry, day 2 and 3 will focus on practical skills such as songwriting, performance, recording and production. Workshops and panels will be led by industry professionals such Nicolle Lane (Artist Manager, Publicist, Booker), Kaleena Briggs and Nardi Simpson (Stiff Gins), Jimblah (MC/Producer) and more to be announced.
