Red Bull Bedroom Jam Competition - MusicNSW

Red Bull Bedroom Jam is searching – via webcam – for two Aussie bands aged from 14-19 to award one of the biggest prize pools in Australian music history – the chance to record in either the US or UK before playing live on the biggest stages of their lives.

Entry is open to any band in all states whose members fit the criteria. All they have to do is record an original track with a camcorder or camera phone, upload it to the Red Bull Bedroom Jam site and attract on-site buzz.

Eight provisional winners will then be sent a professional film crew to broadcast their set live from their bedroom, prior to playing at a wrap concert at the Backyard Jam with a leading Aussie band (2010’s inaugural event featured Bluejuice). From there, music industry supremos will choose the two all-expenses-paid grand winners: one band to record in Red Bull’s super-sweet London studios prior to playing the massive Download Festival at Donnington, England; the other to record in Red Bull’s LA studios prior to touring Oz with one of the country’s best bands.

Melbourne pop-punk high school band, Way With Words won last year and have just returned from Red Bull’s very own recording studio in LA. The five piece punk-pop band from Melbourne worked with engineers responsible for the sounds of Good Charlotte and Guns N Roses to produce a four-song EP (check out highlights of their adventure here).

Anyone not in a band will have the opportunity to win prizes (including Gibson guitar packs and a yet-to-be confirmed Red Bull experience) by visiting www.redbullbedroomjam.com.au to vote, tweet, Facebook or otherwise ‘buzz’ their band of choice.

So pull on your full-body meat suit or spray on those black jeans, because the battle for this year’s Red Bull Bedroom Jam is going to be extreme.

The first webcast winner will be announced this Thursday 24, February and broadcast live from their bedroom at 5.00pm on Thursday 3, March.

Tune in at www.redbullbedroomjam.com.au.
