Arts Northern Rivers will join with the Northern Rivers tourism industry when CEO Tony Duke takes part in a panel discussion at the 2010 Northern Rivers Tourism Symposium in late Octobe
The panel will look at how people who are not “traditionally” involved in the tourism market can identify and stake a claim.
Tony Duke, CEO of Arts Northern Rivers, said’ “Artists and arts organizations involved in the cultural and creative industries can increase their business by tapping into the potentially lucrative tourism market. This forum is an opportunity to communicate with the local creative industries as to how they can best participate. Already, almost by default, many are participating in the tourism sector; if we can be proactive and strategic then the outcomes will be more sustainable. I encourage all art focussed organisations and the wider creative industry to attend.”
“In the Northern Rivers, our large and diverse arts community is a major attraction for visitors to the region,” said Northern Rivers Tourism CEO, Russell Mills.
“They want to see local works in our galleries, visit artists in their studios, follow regional art trails and buy artworks as a reminder of their holiday.”
In addition to the panel discussion, the symposium will include informative and practical sessions on marketing to visiting friends and relatives, and She Marketing an integrated approach to marketing to women.
All delegates will have the opportunity to be included in a destination marketing feature on the Northern Rivers thanks to TotalTravel.com. Additionally, everyone will be entered in the draw to win two premium economy airfares to Kuala Lumpur compliments of Air Asia.
Artists and arts organizations interested in learning how to incorporate the tourism market into their businesses are encouraged to come along and listen to Tony and his fellow speakers at the two-day symposium to be held at Peppers Salt Resort and Spa, Salt Village, Kingscliff on October 18 and 19.
