MusicNSW today announced the Indent Ten Year Tour, supported by NRMA Motoring & Services, in celebration of ten years of live all-ages drug and alcohol free events.
The Indent Ten Year Tour kicks off in Newcastle on September 24, before winding its way across NSW delivering the best in live music to Cessnock, Sydney, Tamworth, Byron Bay, Tuncurry, Bathurst, Wagga, Bega and Batemans Bay.
Headlined by one of Australia’s finest hip-hop artists, Urthboy, with Jane & El Gusto, each event is supported by emerging local artists. In each location, Indent is working with teams of young people (12 – 25 year olds) who manage the event completely – from programming, logistics and site management to making sure the word gets out.
Tour headliner, Urthboy says, “Some people think the music industry is a great big mystery, especially when you’re not from the city. This tour will be great because during the day we help demystify aspects of the business and during the night we play some crazy all ages shows. I’m really happy to have teamed up with Indent on this and I hope they pack the Berocca.”
Keeping the all ages music scene alive, Indent – a project of Music NSW – funds around 90 local gigs per year. Indent Project Manager, Max Becker says “It’s not just about the artists, it’s also about the support crews. The music scene needs experienced professionals to sustain it and that’s what Indent does. The Tour, celebrates ten years of young people in regional areas putting on excellent shows for their mates and in the process keeps the Australian live music scene loud, alive and kicking”.
Andy Kent, bass player for You Am I and Love Police Touring, is a music industry advisor to the Indent Tour program. “I’ve been very impressed with how this project has come together, how Indent and MusicNSW have provided structure and support to these young teams in regional areas who are putting these events on. To empower young people to take control, and learn first hand how to run all facets of a tour will give the music industry a new generation of kids with real skills. Well done Indent on ten years of doing this.”

About Indent
Indent is the peak all ages network in New South Wales, developed by Music NSW and funded through Arts NSW. Indent provides funding for drug and alcohol-free all ages events run by young people aged between 12 and 25 years old. The project grants young people access to the practical support they need to stage successful events – from funding through to advice, workshops and resources whilst promoting safety, community support, cultural relevance, sustainability and emerging talent.
Indent has supported more than 1,000 safe, drug and alcohol-free events throughout NSW since it was launched in October 2000. It has also conducted over 200 workshops across NSW in event management, music industry basics, publicity and promotion with presentations by key music industry professionals.
