The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) has released a 32 page report into the slowing growth of the digital music market.
In 2009 27% of all recorded music sales came from digital channels with a revenue US$4.2 billion which is a 12% gain on 2008. However this gain is actually slowing down and illegal downloading and peer to peer networks have been blamed.
Serious promise comes in subscription models like Nokia Comes with Music and Spotify who represented 5% of all digital sales.
The full report will come out in The Music Network out in Australia Day Week (25-31, Janyuary 2010). To find out more of IFPI head to their site here.
