The JB Seed is officially five years old! And to celebrate, this years grants will offer greater diversity and make the program more accessible for artists across a wider range of disciplines.
So, without further ado we introduce… The JB Seed JUMP grant, which has been created to encourage artists to expand their income potential in almost any area they require. The grants of up to $4000 will be awarded to 10 recipients in total with at least 3 of these granted to Indigenous musicians.
But wait, theres more… ART FOR THE PUBLIC offers grants of up to $5000 for visual artists who are undertaking projects to be delivered free to the public, outdoors or in prominent indoor spaces. We want these works to become a form of social commentary, communication and inspiration between the artist and the general public.
The highly successful MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP initiative will again grant up to 24 managers and self managed artists a place at our intensive workshop with some of the most experienced, innovative and successful music industry professionals in Australia.
As a 2009 Management Workshop bonus, we are thrilled to announce a partnership with the magnificent folk at The Falls Music and Arts Festival (Lorne, Victoria & Marion Bay, Tasmania) and the Southbound Festival (Busselton, Western Australia). All successful 2009 Management Workshop applicants will be eligible for an amazing opportunity to perform at all three festivals and have their flights, accommodation, transport and performance fee covered!
Finally, we are pleased to announce a new partnership with SONICBIDS. This year all applications for The JB Seed will be submitted online. Go to www.thejbseed.com and follow the links from our homepage to the Sonicbids hosted application form.
It is free to apply and Sonicbids have also been generous enough to offer all JB Seed applicants a free three month membership. This new process will make applying for the grant easier and much more environmentally friendly for us all!
The JB Seed team invites all artists and associates to contribute and become a part of the movement that is The JB Seed in 2009. The JB Seed is working with the Australia Business Arts Foundation and is registered with the Australia Cultural Fund – contributions to the grant program are tax deductible.
