Creative Director – Position Available - MusicNSW

MusicNSW, is a not-for-profit association representing contemporary music in NSW. We exist to support the creative and economic expansion of the Contemporary Music Industry within NSW.

We are currently seeking a permanent part-time Creative Director to work alongside the MusicNSW Director Corporate to lead MusicNSW through its next stage of growth and development.

Position – Permanent Part Time – 18.75 hours per week
Salary: pro rata of $60,000 p.a plus 9% superannuation contribution.

Role
The Creative Director position guides the industry framework within which MusicNSW operates. The Creative Director works with Industry to identify opportunities for industry development, audience growth and export development. It requires a strong relationship with all sectors of the music industry, a vision for its development, advanced leadership and close collaboration with the Director – Corporate

Your duties will involve:
• Develop and expand upon opportunities for the professional development of contemporary music artists and industry.
• Develop and deliver services and projects that increase industry capacity and audience development on state, national and international platform. This includes identifying sources of funding and support and building business cases for projects.
• Project Supervision – Indent, Whichway, VROOM, Sound Summit.
• Observe and monitor the needs of a diverse music industry and be an advocate in particular to government on behalf of the industry.
• Ensure effective industry coordination between MusicNSW and industry sectors and promoting effective coordination throughout the industry.
• Coordinate with Director Corporate on organisational governance matters including strategically enhancing planning instruments.
• Work with Director Corporate to manage develop and support a dynamic MusicNSW team.
• Other duties as required in the delivery of the MusicNSW Business Plan and as directed by the Board of Directors

Selection Criteria

Essential
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Contemporary Music Industry on a local, national and international platform.
• High degree of analytical skills, ability to think critically and systematically in relation to industry needs and visionary development.
• Superior communication skills, ability to communicate clearly, confidently and articulately.
• Ability to negotiate confidently and independently on behalf of MusicNSW.,
• Ability to work with and represent constituents whilst maintaining a neutral disposition.
• General knowledge of a wide range of music genres.
• Understanding of planning processes and KPI reporting.
• Proven people management and organisational skills.

Desirable
• Graduate Qualifications in Music Business, Communications or other relevant discipline.

Other
• Self motivation, initiative and the ability to work with a degree of autonomy under broad direction
