VROOM is now being licensed to state music associations around Australia.
VROOM is currently being developed by WAM in Western Australia, Q Music in Queensland, MusicNT in the Northern Territory and TasMusic in Tasmania. Once completed, the collective databases together will create a national touring network, the first of its kind in Australia and internationally. The VROOM NSW website is up and running now at www.vroom.musicnsw.com and is set to be up nationally by the end of 2008.
VROOM VICTORIA receives funding
Funding of the VROOM Victoria project was announced by Minister for the Arts, Lynne Kosky in late December as part of the inaugural Victoria Rocks funding round announcement.
The Victorian VROOM project will be managed by Mary Mihelakos who has been actively involved with the Melbourne music scene for over fifteen years, booking venues and as Music Editor of Beat Magazine between 1994 and 2004.
Mary is also behind Stage Mothers who produce the Aussie BBQ at SxSW and Australian Music Collective international showcases since 2002. A VROOM Victoria Advisory Board featuring ten members from Melbourne and Regional Victorias music industry has also been appointed to oversee the project. VROOM NSW needs help
The time has come to update the venue information on VROOM NSW. MusicNSW is looking for volunteers to come into the office and help update the database by calling and emailing existing venues and researching new venues.
