Arts under a new Government - MusicNSW

When Peter Garrett launched Labor’s arts policy in Sydney ten days before the election, he vowed to spend $10 million to promote the arts in Australian communities, $17 million over four years to set up an arts innovation centre, and $7.6 million to boost Aboriginal art centres. The policy also set out its intention to introduce a resale royalty scheme, improve the provision of arts and music education in schools and review the state of artists’ incomes.
Earlier drafts included commitments to the current Federal Government regional and rural arts touring and development programs, including Visions Australia, Festivals Australia, Playing Australia and The Regional Arts Fund. Labor’s arts policy framework is available on the ALP website.
