Arts Minister Frank Sartor recently announced $110,000 in grants to enable young people across NSW to stage all-ages, drug and alcohol-free music events. The Iemma Government funding is allocated through Indent, an all-ages music program and project of MusicNSW.
For eight years Indent has provided funding, advice, workshops and resources to young people interested in staging all-ages entertainment.
Mr Sartor said the program provided important support for all-ages events across NSW, especially in regional and remote areas.
“This year grants have been awarded to 44 event teams,” Mr Sartor said. “All demonstrated innovative ideas for youth-driven entertainment in their local communities, covering both regional and metropolitan NSW.
“The 2008 Partnership Grants will fund 110 events taking place across the state, offering a platform for approximately 350 emerging bands and artists to perform to an expected audience of 27,000 young people.
“These grants will help ensure that people of all ages get to enjoy live entertainment in a safe environment.”
Indent will also deliver workshops in event management and music business to around 250 young people, with the aim of helping to create sustainable youth-driven music events.
