Nokia’s “Be Heard” competition for unsigned acts is back for its fourth year. Six finalists are chosen by an expert judging panel and given music industry insights by industry mentors. Each finalist also receives part of a Be Heard competition promotional and advertising package valued at $100,000 which includes a professionally produced video clip and exposure on MTV and online. The Australian public then casts its vote and one winner takes home the $10,000 cash prize and gets to perform live with a headline act at the Take 40 Live Lounge, presented by Nokia, in December.
This year’s line-up of judges includes They include Kid Kenobi (dj & producer), Andrew Jackson (A&R Manager, Ministry of Sound), Alex Fletcher (Manager, MySpace), Dan Rule (owner, Annandale Hotel), Jess Beston (A&R Manager, Universal Music), Simon Wooldridge (Editor, Rolling Stone), and Sam Coombes (Marketing Manager, MTV).
