MUSICNSW have announced details of an exciting new music project. It comes as a direct response to the voice of Southern Sydney’s arts community who have voiced the value that arts can play in developing cultural cohesion within the region.
The BRING IT project’s main aim is to involve the young people of the South and South West regions of Sydney in a collaborative recording project, with a view to creating a harmonious theme of working together, encouraging intercultural dialogue, the development of the South’s music industry infrastructure and a bonding connection between young people and the music industry.
The project aims to provide young people with a platform to express their artistic talent and values through the ideology of working together and respecting cultural differences, whilst gaining professional recording experience and industry knowledge. BRING IT is a HIP-HOP recording project where 16-25 year old talent in the South and South West regions are encouraged to submit their work – at varying degrees of completion, whether it be a lyrical rap, beats generated on a home computer, would-be muso’s or an already established group or act with a finished song or home demo.
The project aims to connect these artists together and their final submissions will be assessed by an industry panel; with all successful applicants receiving a succession of workshops with specialised personnel.
Successful applicants are then assigned a producer for the recording process, with the final result being a compilation CD of artists and artist collectives which will be manufactured, serviced to media, promoted and distributed physically and digitally.
