LAUNCH is an initiative to support and skill young people who are interested in pursuing a career in the music industry and provides networking opportunities for participants from Blacktown City and Western Sydney. The Music Industry talks will feature a series of guest speakers from diverse aspects of the contemporary music industry. Topics will include; independent record labels, getting a gig, copyright and royalties, gaining resources – funding, music marketing and more.
The event is being supported by MUSICNSW, INDENT (Youth Entertainment Network for NSW), Community Resource Network, Contemporary Music Centre – TAFE NSW (Nirimba), APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) and National Youth Week.
Local resident and music business student at Nirimba Tafe, Andrew Hajgato will attend the industry talks and is excited of the prospect of this type of event happening in Blacktown City; “I have previously been to the Bondi Wave music course which is held in the Bondi Pavillon, but its great to get the opportunity to do something like this so close to home!” Hajgato said.
Following the Music Industry talks, participants of the day and interested members of the public are invited to come along and enjoy performances by Western Sydney artists Brotha Black and Urban Prophetz (both pictured) along with a free BBQ in the brand new courtyard area at the rear of the Blacktown Arts Centre. The evening will be a great opportunity to experience the hip hop talent from Western Sydney. No bookings required for performances.
When: Wednesday 18th April 2007.
Bookings are essential for the music industry talks as spaces are strictly limited. Please call Blacktown Arts Centre on 9839 6558 to secure your spot.
